1. Quick Start Guide
AI2Vault is a Chrome browser extension that works directly alongside grok.com. Follow these simple steps to perform your first export:

grok.comin Google Chrome while logged into your active account. - Open AI2Vault: Click the AI2Vault extension icon in your browser toolbar or open Chrome's native Side Panel for a persistent side-by-side workflow.

- Extract to Vault: Move the downloaded ZIP into your local Obsidian vault folder and unzip it.
2. Vault Organization Strategies
AI2Vault supports three distinct folder organization strategies to fit your personal PKM philosophy:
1. PARA Hierarchy (Archives/Grok Chats/)
Organizes chats according to Tiago Forte's PARA method (Projects, Areas, Resources, Archives). Exported notes are categorized by topic and placed neatly into Archives/Grok Chats/[Topic]/.
2. Chronological (Chats/YYYY/MM/)
Categorizes notes by date hierarchy (Year / Month), matching daily journal workflows and chronological log systems.
3. Flat Folder Structure
Places all notes in a single root folder with structured YAML tags and 000 - Grok Chat Index.md managing the organization dynamically via Dataview.
3. Dataview Index Hub (000 - Grok Chat Index.md)
Every export includes an automated central dashboard note titled 000 - Grok Chat Index.md. This note uses the popular Obsidian Dataview plugin to create interactive, dynamic query tables.
```dataview
TABLE date, provider, tags, summary
FROM #ai-chat/grok
SORT date DESC
```
When you add new notes or sync next month, this table automatically updates without needing to edit the index file manually.
4. Map of Content (MOC) Hubs
AI2Vault automatically groups conversations around common themes (such as Coding, Architecture, Research, Writing) into dedicated Map of Content (MOC) notes.
Each MOC note contains bidirectional Obsidian [[Wiki-Links]] connecting related conversations into an interconnected knowledge graph rather than isolated silos.
5. Action Item & Decision Extractor
Long AI conversations often bury critical decisions and todo items. AI2Vault's extractor automatically parses task checkboxes (- [ ]), recommendations, and architecture choices into a clean, dedicated header:
^msg-001
^msg-002
6. Local Model Context Protocol (MCP) Memory Anchors
For users leveraging local AI workflows and Model Context Protocol (MCP) engines, AI2Vault embeds granular block anchors and YAML metadata into every exported note:
mcp_ready: truein YAML frontmatter marks the note for MCP indexers.^msg-idblock references appended to individual message turns allow local vector tools (such as Smart Connections, Engram, and mcp-obsidian-second-brain) to cite exact turn-by-turn answers.
7. Continuous Incremental Sync & Export Memory
AI2Vault uses your browser's private IndexedDB to remember previously exported conversation IDs and timestamps. When you export a month later, AI2Vault automatically detects and packages only newly created or updated threads, ensuring your Obsidian vault never suffers from duplicate files.
8. Troubleshooting & FAQ
